We're sorry we've been away.

Over the last few months, I found that the cost of running a  van on the road, and for me to justify the cost of childcare for my children was just unreasonable, the drop in phone calls and enquiries at the start of 2011 made it clear that this type of service was suffering from the financial shortages.

I know that I provide a service that many people may consider an expense that can saved. I also know that cars can be cleaned elsewhere cheaper, and the increase of "side of the road" car cleaning establishments on every disused forecourt and pub car park has also hit this mobile valeter hard.

After a lot of deliberation, and the thought that 10 years of hard work was over, was worrying. So I thought to myself, this service that I am offering is far superior to those "car cleaning" places. There must be a demand for a service that offers more than "speed cleaning" a car, a service that takes time and care in the work. That isn't about high volume/low quality but quite the reverse.

I offer a high quality/low volume service. I offer a service that is far better than those places that call themselves valeting, but really? Are they valeting? No. They are just about churning through huge volumes of cars for a fee that is so cheap I have to ask How do they do it? The only answer that I can conclude is that the products the are using must be of a low and cheap standard, that they simply can't spend any time actually doing a descent service, they are mostly trading on the word "valeting" offering what people perceive to be a valet, but in comparison are not.

I feel that the use of the word Valeting in this instance is simply wrong. I use quality products that are designed to clean cars, and to clean them well and to last some length of time, significantly longer than Morrisons Value Bubble Bath!! Some places offer a wax service, well using a wash'n'wax isn't waxing a car, a polish, using a water dispersing spray isn't polishing a car. Sucking the stones from the foot well isn't a vac, the list is endless. They may go through the motions of "valeting" but they lack the depth and detail I think is required to use that particular word.

These places that offer these services may appear cheap but are they? In the past I have been to clients vehicles and they have been honest and said they have used these places, maybe as a one off, and can I come and remove the swirls from their £15,000 car. I am quite happy to do this as I can charge £60-£100 for a polish and wax, a service that takes me,3-4 HOURS not minutes.

I am just trying to make a living, I'm sorry for the rant, but I am feeling very frustrated, I just want to keep working, there are plenty of cars on the road and potential clients with these other businesses devaluing the valeting market with cheap, services. I felt it was worth one last attempt to survive.

Thanks for your support.
